Nesting Diaries

06/01/2015 by Jewwell
The adults began incubating on April 20/15. On May 7/15, a giant poplar tree about 70 ft, from the nest was cut down and totally removed by the Frankford Water Treatment plant. This must have taken several hours and when it was finished, the birds were totally traumatized and never did any more incubating. I wonder if perhaps a branch fell on the nest and destroyed the eggs. They stayed around the nest the first few weeks but now are seen less often.
