Nesting Diaries
Big, beautiful osprey perched on one of the Beaverdam Creek platforms; first sighting this year. Lovely to have them back!
Have been meaning to post; sorry for the delay! All osprey have flown south, no activity on the nest since August 25th or so. Wishing them all safe journeys and looking forward to seeing a mating pair again in 2014.
Two large and healthy chicks again this year. Wonderful to see them in flight.
Have been meaning to update for a while now; sorry! Two active chicks; noisy and very ready to fledge. All's well in the nest.
Very happy to see the pair back this year; platform survived Sandy intact, but we've got winter weather here still, snowy in the 30's.
All family members last seen on August 26th or 27th; sorry for delay in posting! Wishing them safe travels, and hope to see a mating pair back again next Spring.
Definitely 2 healthy chicks, so wanted to update my last report.
Meant to update with 2 nestlings, not fledglings (though they're looking very anxious to fly!)
One chick for sure, hungry and healthy. I'm hoping for 2 like last year; will bring binoculars later for a closer look. Both parents on the nest, with a nice big fish for dinner. All's well for now.
Seeing new nesting material on platform for a few days and finally saw our bird; sorry for the bad photo (very foggy that morning), will try to get better pics soon. Birds are returning at pretty much the exact same time as last year and looking healthy. Happy to have them back!
