Nest #1114

Nickname: Firehouse
Nest substrate: Osprey Nest Platform
Nest Location Description: The Osprey built a nest at the top of the light pole in the parking lot of the Deltaville Fire Station. I don't know how long they have been returning to the same pole but it's been at least 7 years. I saw one of the parents fly out the nest today and there were two 'heads' left in the nest. I would guess 2 baby Osprey in the nest.

The pair are have been building their nest and have plenty nesting sticks up on the platform. See them regularly building. Won't know when eggs are laid or hatched because no camera at this nest. Will determine by Osprey behavior.

The first I noticed the arrival of the female, I'll call Baylady, on March 14th, 2015. I noticed her building her nest on the platform right away and today, March 27th, I noticed her mate was back and I will call him, Bayboy. To my knowledge of this nest they have never been named. I am hoping to keep up this Osprey Watch better than previously years. I have a picture to post that I took on this rainy gloomy day in Deltaville, Va.

I did not notice the arrival of the Osprey in the spring, however after they arrived they did have 3 babies which fledged and all are now gone. I look forward to their arrival next spring.
