08/04/2012 by ChrisC
Two juveniles seen in the nest. Older one taking small flights. Female perched nearby. Male delivers a fish which is eaten by the older chick. Younger one later stretches his wings - looks like he will soon be ready to fly.

07/29/2012 by ChrisC
Adult Female and one chick on nest. Male brings fish and female feeds it to the chick. About 10 mins later the other chick flies in! It is obviously fledged. At that point feeding time for the young'un is over and the older chick gets the rest of the fish. Male perched nearby watches, then flies off to get a fish for himself.

07/28/2012 by ChrisC

Jun 9 - Single bird (F) sat on nest. Jun 16 - Female on nest, re-arranging things, head going into nest. Male perched nearby. Jun 17 - Watched for about 1 hour. Female on nest, male nearby. He flies off and goes fishing in the James. One dive and success. He flies past the nest and circles for several minutes. He returns, perches about 20' from the nest and starts eating. He eats all of the fish, while the female looks on, occasionally re-arranging the nest. He cleans his beak on the branch, and stays perched sunning himself. Does this mean no chicks yet?
