spotted Osprey fishing near the nest but no activity at nest
On 4/27/16 an adult pair were observed sitting on separate branches in a dead tree next to the nest.
Female sitting on nest. Male nearby.
Adults doing housekeeping chores. Both stay close to nest.
Nest not present. No adults.
Osprey observed standing on nest. Couldn't see babies, but there must be some by now. No feeding activity observed.
Female incubating. Male nearby.
Nothing seen either in or near the nest.

One Osprey perched on branch near site of nest. Immature bald eagle decides to perch very close, is mobbed, but Osprey gives up. Immature eagle is then mobbed by mature eagle and flies off.

Nothing seen either in or near the nest. Looks like it has been abandoned.

May 25 - Nothing seen either in (as lines of sight permitted) or near the nest.
One bird perched on branch above new nest. Can't see if another bird is in the nest.
Both birds seen near the nest. Female perched close above it, male off to the side eating a fish. After 20-30 mins female perches in the nest.
One bird (F) perched a few yards from new nest. Other perched nearby, flying off and returning several times. No incubation!
One bird (male) perched near new nest. The other (female) perched lower down, closer to the nest.
Apr 21 - One bird perched near new nest. Flies off. Doesn't return for 30 mins or so.
Both birds perched near the old nest site. Male occasionally flying off & fetching nesting material. Small nest partly visible.
14 Apr - Four ospreys at nest site. One bird flies off and brings back a stick - re-building? Other flies off and joins nearby osprey circling around. 3 remain at the nest site.
13 Apr - One bird perched near site of old nest for a while (30min), then joined by the male. No nest building apparent. After ~10 mins male flies off.
7 Apr - One bird perched near site of old nest. Then a second lands nearby. No re-building noticed.
30 Mar - No re-building. Ospreys are nearby - one with a fish chased by an eagle.
No activity seen around the site of this nest over the last week.
17 Mar - Last years nest is gone. One Osprey seen perched nearby.
Younger bird in the nest. The other perched a few feet away. Adults not seen (in 30 mins)
Two birds in the nest the whole time (~1.5hrs). Two fish are delivered by adult, Older bird has most of them, but younger one does get some.
Aug 7: One juvenile seen in the nest. Adults nearby. After 30 mins, another Osprey perches nearby. Is this the "fledged" chick? Was away for too long to be this year's bird?
Two juveniles seen in the nest. Older one taking small flights. Female perched nearby. Male delivers a fish which is eaten by the older chick. Younger one later stretches his wings - looks like he will soon be ready to fly.
Adult Female and one chick on nest. Male brings fish and female feeds it to the chick. About 10 mins later the other chick flies in! It is obviously fledged. At that point feeding time for the young'un is over and the older chick gets the rest of the fish. Male perched nearby watches, then flies off to get a fish for himself.
Two chicks clearly visible. Female visits nest with fish then perches neaby close to the male. One chick obviously more advanced, darker brown, very active and feeding. The other only slightly active, no feeding observed.
Female on side of nest, one chick clearly seen. Male perched nearby. Female leaves nest. Possibly fishing then feeding. Male then leaves his perch.
F. on the nest, one chick seen occasionally. M. perched nearby. F. leaves nest briefly at one point, returning a few minutes later.
Jul 10 - F. sat on the side of the nest, arranging sticks. M. perched nearby. One chick clearly seen.
Jul 7 - F. sat on the side of the nest, wings spread - loosing heat or shading chicks?. M. perched nearby eating a fish
Jul 1 - Female sat high to the side of the nest, shading chicks? Male perched nearby.
Jun 24 - Male perched in "his spot", Female on the nest. Eagle flies by, the pair scramble like fighter jets to intercept, then return. Female sitting high to side of nest.
Jun 19 - Male perched in "his spot". Female sat to the side, attending to the nest. Head going into nest, looks like she is feeding?
Jun 9 - Single bird (F) sat on nest. Jun 16 - Female on nest, re-arranging things, head going into nest. Male perched nearby.
Jun 17 - Watched for about 1 hour. Female on nest, male nearby. He flies off and goes fishing in the James. One dive and success. He flies past the nest and circles for several minutes. He returns, perches about 20' from the nest and starts eating. He eats all of the fish, while the female looks on, occasionally re-arranging the nest. He cleans his beak on the branch, and stays perched sunning himself. Does this mean no chicks yet?
Male with flying around with fish, then lands about 20 ft away and eats it. Female looking on from the nest. Still seem to be incubating.
Not much change over the last week. One bird on the nest, the other occasionally perched nearby. Still seem to be incubating.
May 16 - One bird on nest. Other nearby.
May 19 - One bird low on nest - just the head showing.
May 20 - One bird low in nest. Other (male?) arrives later, perches off to the side, preening.
May 2 - Female(?) perched / sat above nest.
May 5 - Female(?) sat on nest, settled. Male(?) not seen.
May 12/13 - One bird sitting low on nest. Other bird perched nearby preening. After a while change of shift and other bird (female?) takes over the nest.
Female spotted briefly on nest, male perched nearby. Neither were seen resting for long periods on nest.
